Deakin University Library has a selection of books written in Japanese. Secondary school students can join Deakin library for free. To locate material written in Japanese include the keywords japanese language with your search term (eg jjapanese language history). Check the catalogue to ensure that the books you want are at a library branch that you can access. Deakin will not transfer books between branches for secondary students.
City Library in Melbourne offers free membership to Victorian residents. To locate books written in Japanese select the Advanced Search tab on the library catalogue and then choose More search options. Then choose In a specific language and from the drop down box choose Written in -Japanese.
